SHAH ALAM, April 22 — Malay College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK) will be building a car park equipped with solar panels based on the ideas of former students of the fully residential college.
The pilot project will be a joint venture between MCKK Form Five 1975 /Form Six 1977 Alumni, MCKK Parent Teacher Association (PIBG), Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) and UT Generation Sdn Bhd as solar panel supplier.
Chairman of the project implementation committee, Datuk Ahmad Sharifuddin Abdul Kadir said the project is scheduled to start operations at the end of September, at a cost of RM230,000 which will be fully funded by MCKK Alumni.
Ahmad Sharifuddin said the solar panels will generate up to 24 kilowatts (kW) of electricity which will be sold to Tenaga Nasional Berhad for 21 years under a Renewable Power Purchase Agreement (RPPA) as a source of income for MCKK PIBG. — BERNAMA
